As the leaseholder of a flat, you may have the right to extend the number of years (term) left on your lease. Extending your lease is a legal transaction between you as the leaseholder (the buyer) and your freeholder (the seller), and is similar to the conveyancing process when you originally bought your leasehold property. We recommend that you obtain independent professional advice (such as legal and/or valuation advice), in the same way you did when you acquired your leasehold property.
